3 National Consumer Voice Projects You Should Know About

We follow the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care closely. They post valuable updates about policy, the state of care across the country, and more. Additionally, they play a vital role in Residents’ Rights Month and host a podcast with tons of great information. To help them continue their great work, we’d like to highlight three of the National Consumer Voice’s recent projects we think everyone should know about.

National Consumer Voice 47th Annual Conference

The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-term Care is hosting their 47th Annual Conference and registration is now open! This conference will feature industry experts, long-term care recipients, advocates, and more who will discuss advocacy, best practices, policy, and so much more. The conference is open to anyone interested in improving long-term care, including consumers, ombudsmen, attorneys, care staff, and politicians.

The conference will be held October 31-November 1 in Baltimore, but live streaming options are available. Learn more and register here.

No Country For Old People Documentary

Inspired by her mother’s tragic story, award-winning filmmaker and writer, Susie Singer Carter (“My Mom and The Girl,” “Soul Surfer”), has partnered with National Consumer Voice to produce a documentary. This documentary is meant to shine a light on the conditions, quality of care, and overall failings of the nursing home industry. Having witnessed these failings first-hand, Carter is determined to bring these dire issues to everyone’s attention and be a voice for the voiceless.

Podcast: Loneliness and Social Isolation in Long-Term Care

While everyone’s focus was turned to the pandemic, another public health crisis was simultaneously created and ignored; that of social isolation and loneliness among nursing home residents. The effects of social isolation are yet to be fully discovered but are already profound. Join the National Consumer Voice on their podcast as they discuss the emotional, physical, and psychosocial health consequences of social isolation among long-term care residents
